TailCam – your feedback is important to us !
Hi, and welcome to Newsletter #2 for 2013.
The recent “TailCam” launch was taken well by the aviation industry, particularly the Rotorcraft operators – with emails coming in from about 5 offshore countries asking for further information. Surprisingly, most of the feedback from the TailCam newsletter came from outside of New Zealand !
Our cousins across the Tasman are always keen to be at the forefront of new technology, and as a result we have several new customers talking to us about customising our off-the-shelf video products to more closely suit their requirements. As is our business – we’re always happy to look at designing the products our customers ask for, and need.
However, as a New Zealand company, Extreme VisioNZ were a little surprised that only a few NZ operators contacted us for further information. We’d like to understand better why that may have been so, and would value any feedback you’re able to offer.
We considered a number of possibilities:
- NZ operators are content with their current safety products and practices?
- Don’t understand how our products can enhance or add value to your company?
- Don’t have time to have the product installed?
- Don’t have time to read the newsletters?
We’re sure there are many reasons why the take-up here in NZ has not been as well received as it has from our overseas customers, but Extreme VisioNZ (a New Zealand based company) have “THE” technical edge in the Aviation Video industry all over the world (in fact currently, we can’t see anyone doing what we do), and we’d really like to see NZ operators with our products before anyone else starts to use them.

Final thoughts:
One of our overseas suppliers recently approached an insurance company to ask if they’d consider reducing their premiums for customers installing their products. Another company are using video to record every trip the vehicle makes with a specially designed recorder which provides evidence for the police from inside the vehicle in the event of an accident. This clever device actually records a short period of time “before the accident takes place”, providing the police & insurance company with hard evidence of how the accident happened.
Both these products are currently being used in road vehicles, but we’re most certainly working with the suppliers to see how we can integrate these items into the aviation industry.
